Mangalore, Aug 23: The members of the district unit of Karnataka Dalit Sangha Samiti (DSS) have planned to meet chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday August 25 to demand the re-appointment of P Chandrappa as the commissioner of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC).

Speaking to reporters on Monday August 21, district convenor of DSS P Keshav informed that they have received assurance in this regard from district in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty.

He further claimed that the present MCC commissioner Krishnappa Poojary had issued a warning against the move to reinstate Chandrappa.

Keshav also demanded the reinstatement to be done by August 31, failing which the samiti would be forced to launch an agitation against the government.

Chandrappa is presently the commissioner of Mangalore Urban Development Authority.
