9-year-old girl run over by public bus in Bangalore


Bangalore, Aug 5 (NDTV): A nine-year-old girl was run over by a public bus in Bangalore today. The bus is operated by the Bangalore Metro Transport Corporation or BMTC. 


The girl, Shubha Harini, has suffered serious injuries and has been admitted to the Jain Hospital in the city. According to doctors, Shubha may need multiple surgeries. Her leg is damaged and may also have to be amputated. 

The accident occurred near the Cantonment railway station during the morning rush hour between 7.45 and 8.15 am. Shubha was travelling with her elder sister, who managed to board the bus. However, Shubha who was right behind, lost her balance while climbing, during which time the bus sped off, running over her leg in the process.

Shubha who will turn 10 tomorrow aspires to be a dancer.
