Puttur, Aug 23: Sri Ram Sene led by Arun Kumar Puttila has been involving itself in many social movements these days.  Though their work-style has been criticized by many, chiefly by their own former friends, it is not a secret that the people are supporting them too the hilt.

This was proved on Monday August 21 when Sri Ram Sene led protest against an illegally-run liquor shop at Shantigodu near Narimogru here.  The said shop has been functioning in one Devaki P Aithappa's land whereas the permission has been secured to run it in Ponnamma's land.

A protest march which began at Shantigodu ended up at Narimogru where a public rally was held.  Addressing the rally, Sri Ram Sene leader Arun Kumar Puttila said that women should become role models to the society by leading these kinds of movements.  "This protest should be the starting point for many more movements, so that all the arrack shop in the taluk are closed and our place becomes a liquor-free zone," he added.

GP member  Kayyadi Honnappa Poojary, Puttur taluk Youth Federation honorary president Ashok Kumar Puttila, Madya Marata Virodhi Janajagruti Samiti president Shobha Madhava Gowda also addressed the protestors.  Later an appeal was submitted to GP president Leelavati.  Accepting the appeal, Leelavati said that she would support this movement as she too wants to see taluk as liquor-free zone.

More than 200 people participated in the protest and shouted slogans.  GP secretary Vithal Natekar, members Sukumar Jain, Navin Kumar Rai and others were also present on the occasion.
