Bantwal, Aug 6: Hundreds of large-sized potholes exist on the service roads within the town limits. The road users, who were already finding it an arduous task to drive on this road because it is narrow and congested, are now forced to face further complications, which have been multiplied by heavy rains.
The drivers of vehicles are forced to put to practice all their skills and patience to maneuver their vehicles through small gaps they get between these giant pits. They are sure to face danger if they lose concentration even for a second. As the vehicles are compelled to go dead slow on this road, traffic jams have become routine.
Last year, drivers of local auto rickshaws and cars, with the support of policemen, had filled pot holes by filling crushed laterite stones in them. During summer, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) did patch work by using bitumen, which have since peeled off. Pot holes seemed to be awaiting the arrival of monsoon to appear on these roads in large numbers suddenly.
The people hope that officials of NHAI will take note of their plight and do something to ease the problems without delay.
