Mangalore, Aug 7: Thieves entered two houses located at Madoor Arasunagar within the limits of Ullal police station here in the wee hours of Thursday August 7 and decamped with gold ornaments and cash totally valued at over a lac.
They stole a bracelet containing two and half sovereigns of gold, a half sovereign golden ring and Rs 10,500 in cash from the house of Rasheeda Banu, a resident of first cross in Madoor Arasunagar.
The theft occurred even as Rasheeda Banu, her daughter Rubeena and child, Fazim slept inside the house. There is a suspicion that the thieves were hidden in the house even before the family members retired for the night and committed theft thereafter. Rasheeda said that the thieves seem to have used a kind of spray on people sleeping, as a result of which she suffered from giddiness when she woke up in the morning.
The same thieves entered another house, 'Devinilaya' belonging to Ashok Ameen in the neighbourhood and stole two sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs 11,500 in cash. No one was inside the house during the theft. The thieves also made an attempt of theft at the house of Saira Banu nearby after breaking the door of the house, but did not get any valuables.
However, a shawl left behind by the thieves was found lying in the house of Saira Banu.
