Mangalore: Lucky escape for driver as car goes out of control, hits barrier

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Aug 8: In an incident which occurred on Friday August 8 morning, a driver had a lucky escape after he lost control over his car. The vehicle came to a stop after hitting the road barrier.

The incident occurred at Kallapu near Netravati Bridge on national highway 66.

The Hyundai Verna car bearing Kerala registration that was moving towards Kasargod from the city was badly mangled after hitting the protective barrier. Many felt that recklessness on the part of the driver was the cause for this accident.

If the protective barrier had not come in the way of the car, it would have rolled down into the river. No information about the car driver is available.

No report was filed in Ullal police station relating to this incident.

The Hyundai Verna is not a good vehicle. This accident has proved it. Even the safety air bags have not automatically opened. Many freak / unnecessary accidents have taken place with this model. In Goa this model has created a lot of accidents. In this case the driver was very lucky.

The cars are purposefully designed to crumble specially the front end, so they can absorb the energy from the Impact. If car is designed not to crumble, the energy from impact will pass to the driver killing him.

Fro example when you jump on bed, the bed deforms and absorbs energy, so your legs don't fell pain from the jump so much. However, if you jump on a hard stone, the stone wont' deform thefore your legs feel the energy of the jump.

our indian cars will be completely shattered even if it hits the median or divider of the road.therby we can judge the manufacturing quality of the car.even cars like bolero, scorpio etc which are considered strong body are also completely crushed in accidents.cars like landrover are relatively safe during accidents as there will be minimum damage if it hits the divider etc.any cars which are relatively safer guys?

These KL registered vehicles a big problem in Dakshina Kannada and a big menace in Mangalore. A few days back we had a similar incident were doctors (students) two boys and a girl met with a accident on this route. In Mangalore if we have traffic jam it is mostly because of the KL registered vehicles.Guys in Mangalore take care of KL vehicles in some cases PY too.Keep distance.........!!!

Either Driver had good night sleep or he must be in over speed. He must bow to road safety fence which saved his life.THIS PICTURE RESEMBLES,FAMOUS MALAYALAM FILM ACTOR JAGDI who met an accident in road divider and still under Coma...God is great and it is indeed a close shave.

Bow only to God, who saved him, not to the safety barrier as mentioned by you - THAT WILL BE SHIRK.

Lucky to be alive. May be now he'll drive in his limits. But the car is beyond repair and will be considered has total loss by Insurance company, beyond repairable. They will settle down on the IDV value for this car.

You are saying as if you know the KL and KA 21 by birth. This not the way to comment. In general youths drive rashly. You have no rights to categorize people on the basis of the vehicle registered they drive.

police should take suo-moto case against such rash driving. A lot of KL and KA21 registered vehicles are seen in the heart of the city (Pandeshwar, mangaladevi, hampankatta and on the NH) mostly driven by teenagers are dangerous not only to the pedestrians but also the two wheeler riders. They think that they are in some rural village roads and they shoe-off their vehicles. There is also the problem of Tinted glasses, in spite of orders from Supreme court. hope the mangalore police will take strict action against the offenders at the earliest.
the fear is that this tendency of flouting the rules is contagious and the late you take action, the more people will practice it.
