Udupi: Woman dies as two-wheeler skids at Kukkikatte

Udupi, Aug 8: Early morning rains resulted in an accident and claimed the life of a woman at Kukkikatte here on Friday August 8.

The deceased has been identified as Poornima (29), a resident of Alevoor.

She was working as a canteen manager Vidyodaya Public School.

It is said that on Friday morning, she was riding her two-wheeler to work, when all of a sudden her vehicle skidded on the wet and slippery road. She was thrown on to the road, and her head hit against an electric pole, causing her grievous injuries.

The locals rushed her to Ajjarkad hospital, where she was pronounced brought dead.

Poornima is survived by her husband Arun, their one-year-old daughter and other family members. Her mother Sunanda is a member of Alevoor gram panchayat.

Udupi traffic police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by auto rickshaw driver Mahesh Shetty.

    May be she would have survived if helmet would have there.
    but this is fate.
    Why Udupi city level helmet is not compulsory? traffic is also there ,forget traffic what about highway?
    Poornima may be an example for RTO to implement rule.

    very sad news, but we should give award who brought her to government hospital udupi.also what about 108 ambulance and bike ambulance, in gulf country they should reach the spot within certain time after receive the call otherwise they should face legul action.our health minister will think about high technology but its not useful for the public.
