Bantwal, Aug 10: An auto rickshaw driver was brutally murdered at an isolated spot in Nethrakere. The incident came to light on Sunday August 10.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Rifai (23). Rifai was the brother of Tousif who is an accused in the murder of  Naushad.

Rifai was auto driver in Faringipette auto rickshaw stand. On Saturday August 9, three unidentified assailants are said to have hired Rifa's auto. The auto was found at night around 8 pm in Nethrakere.

There were blood stains in the auto rickshaw. Auto drivers plying on the route noticed that there was no trace of Rifai.  As there were blood stains in the rickshaw they assumed that there might been an accident and searched for Rifai in hospitals.

Rifai’s family members and friends searched for him in their relatives’ houses. The auto rickshaw was produced in Bantwal rural police station after 10 pm and a complaint was lodged.

On Sunday morning Rifai's body was found at the spot where his auto was found, near the stream. It is suspected that Rifai was murder by assailants who hired his auto.

Revenge for Noushad's Murder?

Rifai’s brother Tousif is one of the accused in the murder of Maripalla Naushad. Hence, it is believed that this murder was an act of revenge. Naushad was murdered on June 21. Naushad’s brother Shamir was also injured in the incident.

Tousif was allegedly part of this crime and is now in jail. Bantwal rural police are probing Rifai’s murder.

Three people have been killed in the revenge saga. In 2011, Noorudin was murdered and Naushad was the prime accused in that case. Then Naushad was murdered in which Tousif is an accused. Now Tousif’s brother Rifai has been hacked to death in revenge for Naushad’s murder.
