Mangalore, Aug 16: In a tragic incident which occurred at Thokkottu Junction near here late night on Friday August 15, a man was stabbed to death by persons with whom he was having a party. The victim of this incident was Yathish (30) from Someshwar near here.

As per initial reports, the murder happened at around midnight. A grand party had been organized near a bar in Thokkottu Junction to celebrate, ironically, the anniversary of Indian independence. Some people who participated in the party got drunk heavily and began fighting with each other in a state of intoxication, it is learnt. This fight worsened soon and culminated in the murder of the above youth.

A knife, which was said to have been put to use in this killing, was recovered from the spot. It is said that a person named Uday and two others, who were well-known to Yathish, stabbed the latter in the abdomen region with the knife. He was critically injured in tis incident, and was admitted into a private hospital in the city. He however, failed to respond positively to treatments and breathed his last soon thereafter.

It is gathered that the victim was an auto rickshaw driver by profession. Those who killed him were close to him, it is said. The said party was held at the house of Yathish, with the participation of friends, Sathsih, Ganesh, Uday, Vikram, and Vinay. It is said that in a jocular way, Uday had made fun of Yathish by mentioning the name of a girl during the party. This angered Yathish, and led to quarrel between the two.

Uday and others, who left Yathish's home thereafter, reached near the said bar and invited Yathsih to come there. As soon as Yathish came there, he was stabbed to death by the trio, it is said.

The police of Ullal station are continuously compelled to remain on their toes because of unsavoury incidents which continue to occur within their jurisdiction over trivial issues. The present case happens to be the latest among them.

That's why Ghandiji said 'No to alcohol!'
Alcohol reduces the rational thinking power & increases the criminal thinking
Even worst alcohol makes one forget the difference between wife & a daughter..

Alcohol in EXCESS is the cause of this MESS. High time people learned to drink responsibly, what we see is people drink to get drunk and give vent to their frustrations that lurks in their sub conscious minds. When alcohol takes control of the mind - good sense takes a back seat and this results in irresponsible behavior. Lear to enjoy a drink and stay within limits. Indians, specially the less educated take recourse to alcohol as it gives them a false sense of bravado.

Nothing to blame, the reason was "drunk heavily" they think "Independence" means do everything include "Murder"

Your comment is irrelevant to the news item.

You are insulting our defence force and thus insulting our country too. Please think before you type anything.

Wake up. Seems you have had a closed door in your mindset. Look around you. How can you compare these incidents to the soldiers of the armed forces who are willing to die so that we may have an enjoyable life. What do you know what they are going through at the border. Educate yourself first and then make these comments.

One thing I hv observed is most of people in n arnd Mangalore r high on something most of d time..its anger issues, collective mob mentality n wat not..this is one of d most uncultured ways of behaving which only a few do bt finally d blame is on d entire place..even last week d case of a woman beating up two boys cos dey wer collecting money n old clothes in d name of a fake ashram..if der r wrong doers catch dem n hand over to d police like educated people do..nobody has d r8 to hit others in groups n showing d junglee nature..
I guess v all need to cool down our angers n start to b more human n more sensible wen handling any issues..beating up people, stabbing den is never a solution..never ever..n dis has to b taught to our children first..

Booze party to celebrate Independence day!!!, Gandhiji will be very proud of these guys. The areas in and around Ullal might seem peaceful for outsiders, but its filled with hate mongers. These guys involved in Murder, i am sure they are linked with some communal groups. I am actually quite relieved that they killed each other rather than killing someone from other community. It would have lead to a chain of events ending with a curfew. All of the Riots that happens in ullal starts with personal vendetta, but politicians and media give it the color of communal violence.

Our defense department is giving some quota of rum or other liquor to our defense people. I was thinking it is a facility but now I convinced that it was a treatment for our defense people that when they drink they will forget everything i.e. they will fight or kill anybody. We will be hesitate to kill anyone when we are in normal position. When we are drunk we will kill anyone like the above people who killed this young man for small reason without thinking future result.

Stan, defence ppl get not only rum but finest genuine scotch whisky and mind you it won't come for free, they pay from their income where every rupee is counted and taxed.I m not sure what compelled you to drag them to this incidence. People in defence forces pledge their life to the country and are ready to die for it.how many of us ready do that.

Stan it looks you have very little knowledge of liquor and armed forces.Don't drag the armed forces for trivial reasons, which you know not.Neither you have knowledge of the cattle class who do anything after a drink. Better you spend some time with them then come to conclusion.
