Digital victory stand for National Games unveiled

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 19 (IANS): A state-of-the-art and first of its kind digital victory stand, to be used for the upcoming 35th National Games, was unveiled here Tuesday.

Kerala will host the upcoming edition from Jan 31 to Feb 14 next year.

Cultural and medal presentation committee chairman Soorya Krishnamoorthy conceptualised the idea and developed the prototype of the victory stand and a mock presentation ceremony was also held to show the working of the stand.

"During the medal presentation ceremony, visuals representing the winner's state (gold, silver and bronze) will be displayed on the video wall along with background music. The National Games theme music and visuals from the winners' states will also be played. Those who sit anywhere in the stadium will be able to know who the winner is," said Krishnamoorthy.

State Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said the use of the stand will be subject to clearance by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and Games Technical Committee.

"I am told that this is a unique victory stand to be put up anywhere," said the minister.
