Mangalore: ADGP Auradkar inaugurates first ever police canteen at Asaigoly

Mangalore, Aug 20: Additional Director General of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) Raghavendra Auradkar, inaugurated the first ever police canteen-­cum-­provisional store of Dakshina Kannada district at the residential quarters of KSRP seventh battalion at Asaigoly here in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, he revealed that the central police canteens, which are modelled after military canteens, are being opened in police residential quarters.

He noted that there were demands to operate such canteens in every police unit, but reminded the policemen that certain rules need to be followed before opening such canteens. "We have already opened such canteens at Bangalore, Mandya and Mysore. This is the first such canteen of Dakshina Kannada," he noted.

Inspector General of Police Malini Krishnamurty lent a sympathetic ear to the problems faced by the families of policemen here. Many women from these families told her that the water problem is very acute at the residential quarters. She promised to take steps at the earliest to mitigate hardships on the drinking water front and to ensure availability of food items of their choice at the canteen.

City police commissioner R Hitendra, western range Inspector General of Police Amrit Paul, 7 battalion commandant Rangaswamny and Konaje polie inspector Raghava S Padil were present.
