Mangalore: Inhuman treatment of domestic servant; accused arrested

Mangalore, Aug 23: Suratkal police took into custody a person who allegedly meted out cruel treatment to a female domestic aid he had hired on Friday August 22. The housemaid in question is a minor.

Juberi from sixth block Krishnapura here was arrested for assaulting the small girl inhumanly. The girl, who hails from Chikmagalur and a Christian by belief, had been working in Juberi's house since sometime. On Friday afternoon, neighbours heard loud wails and shouts from inside Juberi's home. When they went near Juberi's home and observed, they saw that the face and body of the girl had swelled as she was physically assaulted in an inhuman manner.

It is said that when locals questioned Juberi about this development, he shouted at them and threatened them against interfering in his personal matters. As such, they passed on information about the incident to the police. The policemen who visited the house, arrested Juberi.

The Child Welfare Committee was sounded about the incident. They visited the house where the girl was employed and admitted her to a hospital. Investigation has been taken up.

    He went there to make money like many other people from India not because its best place to live in. most of Islamic nations are non secular unlike christian dominated countries.
    Not only they curb the religion freedom they are against the cultures too.Hinduism and Christianity don't have the concept of Kafir

    We had a housemaid a Hindu girl stayed with us many years and she married her own cast boy and she replaced her younger sister with my mother later she also married than no girls left in their house. as per the customs both the girls given birth for their 1st child in our house and we take care as our own sisters. my mother passed away they have taken my mothers used cloths as good memory even we have considered them as our family members while distributing mothers gold ornaments, I really praise my parents kindness specially my mother she was just a Angel

    Such things do happens, parents should be blamed for it,there are many parents are exploiting the future of their kids in many different way..
    I know personally in 1980's. Mother of 4 kids, left her kids with somebody at their young age and went to gulf to join her husband .. just for pleasure not hardship..(Rs.2 per Kg for all daily essentials at that time-Husband was earning about Rs.32,000 that time) stayed in in gulf more than 8 years without kids, how these parents can live without kids, if they are true parents? that too mother? this also kind of exploitation, now her kids are grown up and good for nothing..

    I think some of the members like Hari Shetty on the commentators list need to get psychiatric consultation.
    The news is regarding assaulting the small girl inhumanly.
    Why is religion brought into the scene? Be considerate towards the girl and her parents. Show sympathy towards the girl and her family.
    She is one among us.... how inhuman can some of you be? If it was your mother/sister/daughter assaulted physically or sexually, you will bring religion? No religion teaches bad things. Remember "Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you"

    What I feel is Daijii needs to filter some of the responses.

    No parent would like to have their child work at distance. Poor family background is forcing them to leave school and end up in these situations.

    It is unfortunate that some of us take advantage of these situations and mistreat them.

    They feel that they pay them and can treat as if they own them like cattle in the cowshed.

    When will all these suffering end?

    It is sad that domestic help should be treated in this manner. They (domestic aid) are human being like us and deserve all the consideration for the the selfless services that they render to the household.

    I hope more cases like these come to light and that the poor people are given adequate protection.

    You get caught from the most unexpected. Women understand the pain of other women the most and to see that they become the tormentors it is sad. Similarly the followers of the ideologies which profess kindness to all also indulge in beheading an innocent human being is very strange. I expected the society to become more civilized with the passage of time. We remember the barbaric slave trades and the treatment meted to those slaves centuries ago. I though it is all over and expected people in general will behave in a more civilized way. Totally disappointed. The lady in question who mistreated the young girl obviously belong to the upper strata of the society. The people who beheaded the journalist did not do for any ideal. They wanted ransom. I am lost.....

    These poor minor girls are not seeking maid jobs on their own. They are forced to do so either by their parents /relatives or due to some other desperate situations. It is inhuman to treat such poor girls this way. I don't know how this employer will answer to his God when he seeks explanations for this animal behaviour.
