Udupi : Trees fall on houses; Rs 5 lac damage estimated

Udupi, Aug 25: Trees fell on houses in Kaup-Koppalangadi, Kaup Padugrama and a coconut tree fell on an auto rickshaw in Katpadi. The total loss due to the incidents is estimated to be Rs 5 lac.

Houses belonging to Koppalangadi resident Udayakumar and Padugrama resident Shivaji are damaged. The inmates of the houses are not injured.

Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake visited the houses and handed over the cheques of compensation to the two families through the revenue department.

Former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Kaup grama panchayat president Usha Shenoy, former president Yogish Rai, Savithri Ganesh, Kaup Billavara Sanga president Madhava R Palan, Gangadhar Suvarna, revenue inspector
Sham Sunder, village accountant Sandeep and others visited the place and conducted inspection of the damage.
