New Delhi, Aug 26 (Agencies): New governors were Tuesday named in Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa.

Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala has been appointed governor of Karnataka.

A Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said the new governors are Kalyan Singh (Rajasthan), Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala (Karnataka), C. Vidyasagar Rao (Maharashtra) and Mridula Sinha (Goa).

The post of the governor of Karnataka has remained vacant since July after H R Bhardwaj completed his five year term. Tamil Nadu governor K Rosaiah was given the additional charge of Karnataka.

Born in 1938, Vajubhai has held several ministerial portfolios in successive governments and at one time was a contender for the post of Gujarat chief minister.

A senior leader of the Patel community, Vajubhai represented Rajkot West constituency of Gujarat as MLA, and was the finance minister of the state for two terms. He is also the current speaker of Gujarat Assembly. He served as mayor of Rajkot before getting elected as MLA.

Vajubhai is considered close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 76-year-old is a veteran Bharatiya Janata Party activist who started his political career with the erstwhile Jana Sangh.

If the real power is with governor then All Scams of Gujarat would have exposed during Modi Rule.

On the one hand Feku is retiring old guys from BJP,

and at the same time has chosen an old man to be governor of Karnataka, as a retirement gift, since the post of a governor is purely ceremonial.

Why don't we stop having governors(tooth less tigers) in every state of India, at the expense of public funds??

Siddaramiah is people elected CM. Governor Position is to act as Ministry rubber stamp and sent by his party.

Yedyurappa was corrupt and removed by Lokayukta and approved by Bharadwaj.

If Siddaramiah also do corruption then if Lokayukta permits governor can remove him.

But governor cant take any decision on ministry or ministers.

So loosers no need to be excited.

i think even after prev governor resigned 2 months back.karnataka did not had fulltime governor.but other states appointed as soon as prev gov resigned.modi and shah after so much deliberation handpicked thier own guy from gujrat bcoz they were trying to find a great governor like our prev governor who is eminent lawyer,has a very good prev past political player record and known for great cooperation to cm.hope vajubhai reiterates the belief and trust placed upon him by our hon pm.
