Bantwal: Flash boycott of classes - polytechnic lecturers accused of mentally torturing students

Bantwal, Aug 28: Under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, students of polytechnic here boycotted classes and staged a flash protest demonstration in front of the college on Wednesday August 27. The students said that the vice principal of the college, with the support of a lady lecturer, has been inflicting mental torture on the students of the institution.

The students demanded immediate suspension or transfer of vice principal, Dr Chinnagiri Gowda, and lecturer, Tejaswini, alleging that these two had been creating trouble for the students in classes and denting their confidence and self respect. Parents of students also came in support of the students, and condemned the attitude of these two faculty members of the college.




It is said that behind-the-scene misgivings, differences of opinion, and rivalry that has been in the air among the teaching staff of the college since sometime has been posing a question mark on the future of the students. It is said that both Dr Gowda and lecturer in science department, Tejaswini, had been often choosing not to take classes because of the said rivalry. The students said they have to be prepared to face internal examinations scheduled to be held shortly, and whenever they approached the said lecturers for taking classes, the concerned unnecessarily harassed students at their classes without reason.

'We had been keeping quiet out of respect for the teaching staff. As the harassment became unbearable, we had brought the same to the notice of the principal, but no positive result came out of this action. The fact that the said lady lecturer had branded a student named Jitesh as a goonda just because he had participated in the protest programme organized by a student organization had angered the student community. Throwing of bags on students, asking the students to squat on the floor without any reason or provocation, tearing down books when even small mistakes are found in the work done by the students, are some of the actions which we abhor. We cannot take this anymore, and hence have decided to protest,' the students explained.

The students are now hoping that this protest will bear some fruit.

    These ABVP organization should learn from our Auto Rickshaw drives how to agitate.
    There are few steps before showing goondasm in the school premises.
    I hate this ABVP since Padil Home stay incidents when Sangha Pariwar goons attacked and beaten female students , entire Karnataka people stood against them but these ABVP was mum because that goons are their organization(sangha Pariwar) members.

    Let student protest, no matter which party backs them, but protest should be a reasonable one.
    These are next generation kids , who are more into hanging on their cell phones , these are some
    Situations were they feel yes , we can change a bit in system .
    When we were students used lock college gate, many time we use to stop buses, until cops arrive. Each & every wrongs of the college against student , management rule, FOR and against lecture , hike in fees, below standard food quality & many more issues were solved.
    Its better learn protest now itself, Rather standing like a fool, and watching moral police, rapes, robbery.
    Let these students come out cellphone world , gal frnd / boyfrnds dreams and make some issue for a good cause.

    We,the Parents have failed to instill Traditional Values in our Children, and above all we go along with them and support their misadventure. Why we require a Union, if Parents and Teachers as well as Students have harmonious atmosphere. Mind it no rebel Student(s) has/have ever prospered in his/their entire life.

    One very evident thing: Ever since Modi came to power, ABVP has been identifying issues in Mangalore.
    ABVP got more teeth?
    College admin got more teeth?

    I hope our institutions are not damaged by these 'quick fame' elements.

    May be, active role in ABVP is a sure ticket to higher politics, so by hook or crook the 'student leaders' are trying for a piece of pie?

    Parents and elders, can you do some evaluation and if needed introspection and check where this is leading them personally and Mangalore generally?

    Everything under BJP management is not wrong, similarly, everything isn't right either. Let us not agitate for fame, but for injustice.

    These students are more into politics than studies.
    As for the ABVP, I am sure they are going to recruit their next leaders from these useless students.
    ABVP should refrain from spoiling the future of the other students who wish to study.
