Beltangady: Abduction, rape of minor – girl's relative held

Beltangady, Aug 28: A case of abducting and raping a minor girl stands registered against a person named Manju (20) on Wednesday August 27. In a swift action, the police could trace the person in question, entrust the girl who was with the accused at Sakleshpur to her parents and arrest the accused.

The accused has been identified as Manju (20) of Chamundeshwari Estate in Mathsagar in Sakleshpur. The police, who went to search for the girl on the basis of a complaint filed by the girl's parents who hail from the town, found her in the company of Manju.

A person residing near Muguli school in Beltangady Casba village had filed a police complaint, stating that his 17-­year-­old daughter had gone missing during her visit to the house of a relative in Kaliyabeedu in Kaliya village on July 26. The girl happens to be a second year PU student of the government PU college here, it is gathered.

It is said that this girl had also left her home twice in the past without telling her parents and in both cases, her parents had brought her back from the house of a relative in Sakleshpur.

The accused, who has been booked under different section of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012, was produced in the court.
