Mangalore: Three youths arrested for moral policing

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (DV)

Mangalore, Aug 28: In yet another incident of moral policing, three persons have been arrested for allegedly threatening a youth for being in the company of a girl from a different community.

It is said that late evening on Wednesday August 27, the youth had been to a mall to watch a movie with a girl from a different community. When they came out after the movie, three persons allegedly used abusive language and threatened them with death.

The accused have been identified as Esham (21), Irfan (20) Saddath (26).

The youth later filed a complaint in Urwa police station.

Based on his complaint, the police arrested all the three accused and booked them under IPC sections 341, 395(a), 504 and 506.

Esham, Irfan and Saddath were produced in the third JMFC court, which sent them to judicial custody till September 19.

Earlier so called moral policing was done by only certain off shoots of BJP and it was condemned by most for taking law in their hands,
If it has spread to other groups, like this incident, those involved in it too should be condemned and action should be taken.
Other than the Government authorized lawmakers\law keepers, any one else trying to emulate them should be severely punished to deter them and others from taking law into their own hands.

In 1981, when my brother in-law tried to carry one bag inside the airport in Trivandrum, the red colored porters won't allow they are the exclusive authority to carry the bags. I told them, if you bother me, you are not going to win so I carried my own bag walking back and forth twice. It was not a problem for me if they carried my bags and to tip them but their rowdy approach terribly irritated me.

Likewise, "the moral police" is acting. So many complaints went to the airport authority about this pure street rowdyism of the porters. So, carts were placed at the airport and the porter's rip off game was over with.

The Government of Karnataka has to enact strict laws against these worthless hooligans. Do they help somebody stranded in the road or any other service to the needy?

Good analysis..moral policing cant be supported at the same time differential treatment also cant be tolerated this guys didn't hit anyone but scared the girl and her boyfriend....normally chaddi way of responding is by hitting or braking something...Normally police calls girls and boys parents warn them most of the time attackers are let scott free even though they have manhandled..

These street goons who are the self-made unemployed warmongers, but claiming to be " moral police" if not punished in the open market place for their total arrogance and stupidity, there will be more such devils will pop up.

Can the Government of Karnataka enact a new law to punish them severely for bothering the public? This policing is not heard in many other States in India. This news will create a negative impression about Karnataka as an "immoral State".

Kudos to you the efficient police force. Indeed it is very encouraging to see that the law enforcement people are there ready to help people in situations like these.

If any one finds something wrong in any sphere we have a good police force who could be informed instead of taking law in one's own hand. The present action on the part of the police should serve as an example who deliberately try to take the place of the law enforcement authorities.

I join others in complimenting the police force.
