Dortmund hold Augsburg to win 3-2

Berlin, Aug 30 (IANS): Borussia Dortmund dominated the game but nearly had to share the spoils with a resilient Augsburg at the opener of the second round of Bundesliga.

Dortmund wrapped up their first win in their second match of the season Friday as they overcame Augsburg 3-2, reports Xinhua.

The 'BVB' dominated the game for 80 minutes with the 3-0 lead but Augsburg frenetically fought back. Goals by Raul Bobadilla and Tim Matavz within eight minutes were not enough to restore parity for the hosts as Dortmund pulled through.

Juergen Klopp's men secured a perfect start as Marco Reus broke the deadlock with 11 minutes on the clock. The German international, who recently returned from an injury, made use of a one-two with Kevin Grosskreutz to slot home from inside the box.

Augsburg wobbled while the visitors utilised their momentum to double the lead just three minutes later through defender Sokratis. The Greek international headed home a corner by Reus from the goal area.

Dortmund controlled the proceedings but handed over control at the second half. Augsburg gained a foothold into the game but lacked in penetration against Dortmund's well-positioned defence.

Nevertheless, it was clinical Dortmund who tripled the lead against the run of the game when substitute Adrian Ramos scored five minutes after his fielding.

Dortmund's third goal looked like a decider but it was not as Augsburg fought back in the last 10 minutes. The hosts reduced the lead through substitute Bobadilla before Matavz flabbergasted the visitors reducing the arrears to 2-3 at the 90th minute.

Augsburg sniffed the chance to snatch one point on home soil but Dortmund killed the game to inflict the hosts the second straight loss.
