Mangalore: Foundation laid for community hall at Vamanjoor Church

Mangalore, Aug 31: The foundation stone for the new community hall at Vamanjoor was laid at St Joseph the Worker Church, Vamanjoor here on Sunday, August 31.

Addressing the gathering, MP of Dakshina Kannada, Nalin Kumar Kateel said the Vamanjoor Church community hall is the need of the hour for society. He congratulated the parish priest and parishioners for their vision of constructing a community hall for the benefit of the residents of Vamanjoor.

"Vamanjoor is a fast growing place and a hub for all round development in education, social, commercial and cultural fields. The community hall was essential and a long cherished dream of the entire society," he added.

Ivan D’Souza, MLC, congratulated the organizers on gathering people of all communities and on the wonderful arrangements made on the occasion. He recalled the proverb ‘well begun is half done’ and said that the construction work would be completed in record time.

Mahabala Marla, Mayor, Mangalore City Corporation, said that Mangalore City Corporation stands second in the state with regard to development and Vamanjoor stands first in the growth rate. He stressed the need of a community hall in such a locality. He assured his wholehearted cooperation in procuring the required documents and promised to provide basic infrastructure facilities needed for the citizens of the locality.

Fr Valerian Pinto, parish priest, Cordel Church, invoked God’s choicest blessings on the occasion and blessed the foundation stone. The students of Vidya Jyothi high school welcomed the dignitaries with the melodious band.

Fr Cyprian Pinto, parish priest, welcomed the dignitaries on the dais. He urged the elected representatives to support the cause and extend their wholehearted co-operation.

Assistant parish priest Melwin D’Souza, member of Zilla panchayat Melvin D’Souza, Hemalatha R Salian, Corporator, Thiruvailu Ward, Fr Ajith Menezes Assistant Director, SJEC, Sr Zeena, Provincial, SRA, Sr Mariette Provincial, Bethany, Roshan M Kamath Vice President, Joachim D’Souza, secretary, Pastoral Council, Lawrence Cutinha, Richard Rodrigues, contractor among others were present on the dais.

M P Noronha, advocate and secretary, diocesan pastoral council, Fr Rohit D’Costa, sisters from different congregations, members of taluk panchayat and panchayat members from all communities and parishioners were present on the occasion.

Roshan M Kamath vice-president proposed the vote of thanks. Felix Saldanha compered the programme.

You are pioneer in creating development work wherever you are posted. All projects undertaken by have recived tremendous response and completed them without any hurdles.
