Mangalore, Sep 1: The timings for the Mangalore-Bangalore train announced by union railway minister Sadananda Gowda have been fixed, but the request by the people of the coastal region that it should pass through Arasikere has not been fulfilled.

As per the timings, the journey from Mangalore to Bangalore may take 13 hours.

According to available sources, the train will start from Mangalore central at 6.30 am and will travel via Mysore. The train will reach at Mysore at 4.15 pm and Bangalore at 7.30 pm.

Similarly, the train starting from Bangalore at 8.30 am will be reaching Mysore at 12 noon and Mangalore Central station at 9.15 pm.

However, there is no official notification on when the train service would start.

The train that runs between Karwar-Mangalore-Bangalore via Arsikere runs for three days in a week. It reaches within ten hours. But as the new train runs on a different route, it will take 13 hours.

As per Western Railways Passengers Welfare Committee, the need was for a Mangalore-Bangalore night train. It had to run via Arsikere for the benefit of passengers. If that happened, the travellers also could have saved time.

Meanwhile, the time table for new Kasargod-Byndoor train has been released but official confirmation is awaited. The train will start from Kasargod at 6.40 am, will reach Mangalore Junction (Kankanady) at 8.05 am and reach Byndoor at 11.50 am. It will start at Byndoor at 1.05 pm and will reach Mangalore Junction at 4.50 pm and Kasargod at 6.10 pm, source said. The request of the coastal people that the train should pass through Mangalore Central has remained unfulfilled.
