Mangalore: Engineering graduate killed in two ­wheeler accident

Mangalore, Sep 2: Praveen Naik (24), a resident of Shaktinagar in the city, died in an accident which occurred on Valachchil-­Neermarga Road on Sunday August 31.

Naik, an engineering graduate, was returning home after visiting a waterfall in Valachchil Padavu in the company of his friends on Sunday afternoon when tragedy struck.

A total of six friends had come together for this trip. They had travelled to the said spot on four motor bikes. Praveen was seated on the pillion of a motor bike driven by his friend, Deekshit. It is said that Deekshit, while attempting to overtake another bike driven by his friend, Ritesh, lost control over the vehicle. The two ­wheeler fell into a ditch as a result. Praveen, who fell on the road, suffered grave injuries to his head. Although he was cared for immediately and taken to a private hospital, he was pronounced brought dead. Deekshit too suffered serious injuries in the accident. He is being treated at the hospital.
