Mangalore, Sep 2: A 70-year-old woman from Puttur reportedly went missing on Monday September 1 during a train journey on her way back from a tour of Ajmer in north India. She was among a group of 40 members who had toured Ajmer.

It is said that Bi Fathima (70), wife of the late Mammunhi, resident of Bannur in Puttur, went missing after 2 am on Monday, while she was returning from Ajmer tour.

Fathima was travelling in the S9 bogie of Punjab Mail from Ajmer to Mumbai, along with her son Usman and daughter-in-law Khateeja. They had last seen her sleeping, but later in the night, after the train reached Manmad station, she went missing.

A relative of Bi Fathima informed MFriends, a social service group, about the incident, and the group in turn contacted union minister for railways D V Sadananda Gowda over the phone and explained the seriousness of the case. The minister directed the officers concerned to trace the missing woman. The train was stopped at Nashik for a while and search operation is going on.
