Kasargod: Murder of Dubai-based businessman - Seven get double life term

Kasargod, Sep 4: Through a judgment delivered on Thursday September 4, the additional sessions court here has sentenced seven persons accused of murdering Dubai-based businessman Abdul Salam Haji (56) from Trikkaripura and robbing valuables from his residence, to double life term.

A fine of one lac rupees each has also been imposed on the accused, who have been found guilty of charges levelled against them.

At the same time, the court has acquitted one of the accused in this case.

C K Muhammed Naushad (36) from Nileshwar Anechchal, a relative of Salam Haji, Asgar (30) from Thrissur, his brother, O M Shihab (32), Muhammed Rameez (27) from Nileshwar Kotappura, C Nimith (42), a resident of Kannur Yedachovva, K P Amir (24) from Malappuram Chengarakula, and M K Jaseer (21), a native of Malappuram Alangod, have been found guilty by the court in the case.

The eighth accused, M Muhasi (23) from Nileshwar Kallayi, has been exonerated. The first seven accused had used the car owned by Muhasi for the crime.

The above incident had occurred on August 4, 2013. The gang, which had forced its way into the house of Abdul Salam, had robbed cash in the form of UAE Dirhams, closed circuit television cameras, 15 sovereigns of gold ornaments, and several other items. When Salam Haji tried to resist robbery attempt, the gang had smothered him to death. Haji's wife and children were forcibly confined into a room during the robbery-cum-murder incident.

The gang had ransacked Haji's house for valuables before escaping from there. The police had succeeded in arresting the accused within a week of the crime. Nilelshwar station police inspector, N Sajeevan, had headed a team of investigators in the case and filed charge sheet in the court.

    This was indeed a sensational murder case. Interestingly, one of the criminals who masterminded the robbery and murder was victim's own close relative.

    Welcome the verdict but wish all the seven get capital punishment.

    This happened 27th Ramadan night in 2013 and appreciate the judiciary for its fast delivery of judgement.

    Let these thugs get rotten in the jail cell for ever.

    Yes i agree with you Mr. Henry Misquith....and if they want food, let them earn for it in jail...we don't want government to spend tax payers money in feeding them in jail...if that situation comes immediate death is the better punishment.

    Good job done by the Police in catching the rouges , and good job by judiciary for giving heavy punishment.

    If the street goondas and criminals are punished heavily in the shortest time, then we can have peace in the society..
