63 die as heavy rains wreak havoc in Pakistan


Islamabad, Sep 5 (IANS): At least 63 people were killed and 90 injured in separate incidents triggered by torrential rains in Pakistan, a media report said Friday.

The latest deaths reported Friday are from Rawalpindi and Sialkot, Dawn online reported.

The torrential rain wreaked havoc across Punjab province.

According to the Met department, a number of cities all over the country have received over 130mm of rain.

People residing near rivers have been issued alerts by the district administration to evacuate their homes.

On Thursday, 40 people were killed in Punjab province.

Monsoon rains hit Pakistan every year in June and start retreating in the first week of September.
