BJP appearing close to forming govt in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 7 (PTI) : BJP appears close to returning to power in Delhi after a hiatus of over 15 years with indication emerging that the party was ready to form government if invited to take the reins by Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, notwithstanding opposition from some senior leaders.

Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay, who is known to be favouring formation of government by the party, indicated a decision on the issue in a day or two.
"There will be clarity on the issue within a day or two. We will be able to take a decision on government formation only after getting an invite from the Lt Governor," Upadhyay told PTI.

Earlier, he met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed the political situation. It was his second meeting with Singh in the last three days.

BJP sources said the party was ready to form government though a section of leaders was against reviewing an earlier decision of not exploring the option due to lack of majority.

though I prefer a reelcetion.. I wld have liked to see reelection during loksabha elexn only!! it wld have saved lot of money for exchequer! ... Since, BJP never claimed to form a govt and since there is no govt close to 8 months , BJP may take a chance!!

all along, Kejri said, dont dissolve assembly.. now he knows, few newspaper are giving him good prepoll stats (which he always oppsoed as PAID MEDIA), wants a shot at reelexn.. cunning fellow! he chose his own team, his own people as MLAs .. why not trust them to vote against this BJP govt..? anyway, BJP has to show its strength in the ground.. let those MLAs decide during floor test, what is good for the people of delhi! har jage tumhara ullu kyun seedha karte ho.. LG and Centtral govt or president are not your maids, ki tere tune pe dance kare! ch***ya

Sh Ismail, its you who is missing the birds for the trees!!

Why horse trade when Binny ex AAP & 2 Independants are vocally supporting BJP? let's leave it to core team of the party to decide. You dont need to be so univocally support covert AAP...We all know what they did...Btw, Congress presents a pathetic picture in Delhi, you need to be worried on this front seriously

The fact is AAP and Congress MLA's dont want re elections in Delhi as they are very much sure of loosing. If they want election, let all AAP and Congress MLA's go and meet the Lt. Governor and say that they oppose formation of any government and request for fresh election. You remember last time when Kejriwal met president 5 MLA's were missing, Congress MLAs not yet met Lt. Gov or President with their clear stand.
See the funny part, Kejriwal always talking against the High command culture, and was telling each and everyone free to express his own view. Even when he was proving the floor test at Delhi assembly, he requested all the MLA's to support him as per their conscience and against the veto. Now let him give free hand to his MLA's. If they are trust worthy and loyal BJP cant prove the majority, as simple as that.
When Sangliana/ Manorama etc switched their loyalty, it was not horse trading for these sick secular people. 100 chuha kaake, pravachan dene mein congress maahir.

Sh Ismail, Need to understand situation in Delhi & assess before you comment unnecessarily. AAP formed Govt by taking support from Congress & then ran away giving flimsy reason after49 days. For last 7 months there is Central rule in Delhi. In Democracy there is a chance given to people's rule. BJP had 32 seats , now 3 reduced due to MLA's becoming MP's.

I hope you remember the minority Govt formed at Central by Narasimha Rao, the same rule applied. Such instances can be found in Indian Democracy as in Goa, Jharkhand, Bihar, UP etc where parties very short of majority (in this case BJP is less by 3 seats) are provided opportunity to provide a stable Govt.

As usual, you're trying to give your one sided anti BJP stand come out with venom instead of assesssing situation & looking at ample such precedants in our rich democratic history. On most occasions, horse trading is not resorted to, but outside support sought for (Again eg: Narasimha Rao Govt)

Here issue is HORSE-TRADING not outside support.BJP says it is not interested in forming govt by horse-trading.... BJP as a political party free do anything which is deemed necessary but why giving contradiction press statement?By the by under the circumstances,AAP is main rival of BJP ...BJP want to break the party by hook crook!!!

Sh Ismail Perinje, you dont need to shed crocodile tears for AAP, nor BJP needs to do anything to break them...the party itself is on self destruct mode!

And with bye elections to 3 seats looming large, AAP is definately going to loose the entire goodwill which people of Delhi showered on them as a viable alternative to Congress & BJP, but you & me now know which way the wind blew!!
