M'lore: Silent protest march was conducted for suffering Christians in Iraq

Mangalore, Sep 09: Condemning the massacre of Christians in Iraq and responding to the Pope’s appeal, hundreds of Catholics of the city participated in the 'silent rally' and a prayer session in St Brigit Convent Nanthoor today at 6.30 pm.

About 600 Catholics under the leadership of United Christian Association and Infant Jesus Shrine Bikarnakatte marched silently from Infant Jesus Shrine Bikarnakatte to St Brigit convent at Nanthoor with the candles.



Prior to the rally, a small prayer session was held at Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte.

The superior of the shrine Fr Alias D’Souza called the gathered to pray for the Christians in Iraq.He further said, “We have come here to pray. Let God turn the hearts of terrorists and let the Christians in Iraq be shown mercy”.

After the protest march a prayer session was held at St Brigit Convent which lasted for half an hour.

Mangalore city police was present to maintain public safety and traffic police cooperated in handling the traffic at Nanthoor junction.

    The prayers should have been for all the minorities being persecuted in Iraq, Christians, Yazidis and Shias. Anyway, we should all condemn the atrocities on all these groups and pray for their emancipation at the earliest.

    I am so glad to all my christian brothers and sister who are standing with Christ,as one he gave his body and blood for mankind so as we also stand a chance give our lives, as in rev.says- great is ur reward in heaven. be brave & strong & be determine not to give up. as u die for christ the next moment the heaven's door are open to you.
