Kasargod, Sep 11: Deputy SP T P Ranjith led police team arrested two persons accused of shooting two rounds on the house of Bevinje contractor M T Mohammed Kunhi and demanding a ransom of Rs 40 crores.

The arrested are identified as Siyad alias Zia (25) and Noor Shah(24), resident of Paivalike Lalbhag Masmar House. Zia is the eight suspect in this case, while Noor Shah is the ninth. It is said that the duo had helped Puttu alias Hameed, Ali, Manish Shetty and Ummar in Bangalore prison to ambush the house of M T Mohammed Kunhi.

Police have said that Zia and Noor Shah reached Mumbai underworld don's sharpshooter accomplices to Bevinje. Police have also said that
the duo had taken the sharpshooters to a room in Uppala for taking rest after the shooting and then to Puttur that evening.

They are also the suspects of waylaying a vehicle transporting chicken and robbing cash from people in the vehicle. Zia is also a suspect in the stabbing and injuring case of CPM activist Razak, resident of Chippar. The police have also said that he is a suspect in the incident of a clash at Kayarkatte in 2010, abduction case of a couple at Mangalpadi in and robbery of their cash and jewellery in 2011.

He is also an accused in the fight in the Bayaru mosque premises in 2012 and a suspect in the robbery of Rs 10.5 lacs hawala money in 2013. Police have said that the guidance of the cyber cell was crucial in tracing the accused.

Inspector T P Jacob, sub inspector Ratnakaran, Sunil Abraham, Sinish Siriak, Pradeep Kumar Chavara, Shaju Manjeshwara, Prakash Nileshwara, Srijit Kayyaru and others were involved in the operation.
