Bantwal: Accident at Mani - After wife's death, injured husband also dies

Bantwal, Sep 12: A person who sustained serious injuries in an accident at Mani junction near here on Wednesday September 10 died in a hospital in Mangalore on Friday September 12.

Yogish Bhandary (40) from Boliyar village in the taluk, is the deceased. His wife Pavitra (35) died soon after the accident took place. Their daughter Prapti (3) sustained minor injuries.

The three of them were riding in Yogish's bike when the tragedy struck.

The accident had occurred after a private bus moving towards Puttur from the direction of Mangalore was taking a right turn to move on Mani-­Mysore road, and hit Yogish's bike coming from the direction of Uppinangady at Mani Junction.

Both Pavitra and Yogish, who were seriously injured and Prapthi, whose nature of injuries were minor in nature, were shifted to a private hospital in Mangalore after the accident. In spite of treatment provided to her, Pavitra did not respond positively and breathed her last. Yogish battled for life for two days and passed away on September 12.

    I agree with Rudolph Roadrigues' thinking - that DEATH COMES LIKE A THIEF. However in certain instances people invite death or deaths. It is a common sight in Mangalore for three people riding a two wheeler and what is worse is that sometimes a child - a tiny child is held by the mother on pinion while the father drives the scooter and that is inviting trouble. I think the traffic cops should take strict action against these erring drivers.

    The Mani junction should be widened by removing the nearby building and a circle be constructed to follow the traffic rules. I am regularly moving in that road and every time thinking for betterment.

    RTO should conduct Classes for Traffic rules discipline periodically for Bus, commercial vehicles in the district. Traffic violation by road users in the district is not bearable. and need of the hour is minimum conditioning of roads damaged by rain.where is 'PWD' minister? P.W.D Engineers in the district dead or what. MLA's should put pressure onj local administration to keep the roads free from path holes immediately when there is no rains. there should be a 'Squad' to repair roads clockwise.
