Mangalore, Sep 24: Come Navratri and the festival which is to celebrate the triumph of Good over Evil, spreads its own charm.

The celebrations have dance as an integral part. Garba Raas, Dandiya Raas, Raas Leela are common.

 
 
 

Mangalore too witnessed this Navratri is celebrated with high energy and fanfare with dance festival “Garba Dance” in Srinivas College on Saturday.



Students of the college dressed in the traditional attire of the Gujaratis danced from 8 pm to 10.

 

Among the known dances of Gujarat which include Raas, Garba, Hudo, Tippani Dangi, Holi Nritya, Garbi, Bhavai, Siddi Dhamal, Matukadi and Ged-do, Raas, Garba are common.

 

Charged with energy the entire campus carried a halo of festivity with lights and foot-taping music. Dancing in circles couples played the dandiya.

 
 
 
 

A very energetic, colourful and playful dance is Raas, while Garba which has clapping rhythmically which put the young students in a hypnotic dance spell.
