Udupi: MIT student drowns in Arabian Sea

Udupi, Sep 15: A teen aged student from Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), who had ventured into the Arabian Sea to enjoy the holiday on Sunday September 14 along with four other friends, drowned in the sea.

The deceased has been identified as Anubhav Mayank (19), a second year engineering degree student of MIT who was a native of Jharkhand. Four other students, Hempton Anto, Suchet Balla, Rahul Chatterjee, and Akshat Anurag had accompanied Mayank in his trip to Matoor Kodi Bengre beach near here.

When playing in water, Anubhav Myank and Hempton Anto (19) from Maharashtra were caught in under water current. Both of them were saved by some locals who came to their rescue. However, Anubhav breathed his last while being taken to the hospital. Anto who showed signs of improvement, is being treated in a hospital, it is gathered.

A case has been registered in Malpe police station with regard to incident.
