Mangalore, Sep 16: Police have arrested Farooq (26) from Puchchemogaru on charges of molesting a minor in Moodbidri.
The accused, married with two children, was working as salesman for an ice cream firm from Bantwal. The victim, a 12-year-old girl from Shirlali, Karkala was staying at her grandfather’s house at Biravu, Moodbidri for her education.
The victim was on her way home from a grocery shop. Farooq who came in his ice cream transporting tempo stopped the girl, offered her ice cream and asked her to accompany him. When the girl objected, the accused allegedly touched her inappropriately. The accused ran away when the girl managed to get help from her grandfather who was grazing cows nearby.
The accused has been remanded to judicial custody. Panambur ACP Ravikumar is investigating the case.
