Kasargod: Driver trapped in ambulance for hours after accident

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod (RJP)

Kasargod, Sep 18: An ambulance is considered a life saver. But in the case of Prasad (30) the driver of an ambulance, there was nobody else to drive the ambulance to a hospital when it met with a small accident at Manjeshwar.

Prasad too could not seek anybody’s help as he fell unconscious during the accident.

The said ambulance on Tuesday September 16 night was on its way back to Kasargod after dropping a pregnant woman to a hospital in Mangalore. At around 10 pm at Manjeshwar the ambulance lost control and landed in a pothole nearby when a vehicle from the opposite direction came. The driver lost consciousness immediately.

Even though so many people spotted the ambulance during the night, nobody knew that the driver was trapped in it. The driver gained consciousness in the next morning and was able to inform people about his plight, after which he was rescued. Fortunately the injuries were minor.

There should be humps so that vehicle will slow down. Also they should make pedestrianize crossing every where. This will avoid lot of accidents.

The Ambulance drivers are suppose to be good drivers. How did he loose control even when hardly any vehicles were on road. Good thing it happened at night. Even in USA there are limits for speeds in certain areas and on certain roads. Here they drive like out of control during the day time even when traffic is full on road. Trying to save ONE LIFE may end up Loosing Few.
People are crossing the road. Many disabled, blind and aged along with school children are crossing roads. Recently in Mallikatta near Jugul a older lady was crossing the road. A Ambulance came from Martis Road with high speed and entered Kadri Road, junction near Lions Hall, with high speed. Driver would have killed this lady and a school child. All of Us should wait and see soon? or start planning for action. I have spoken to Previous RTO about this problem but He did not do nothing.
