Mangalore, Sep 21: A person employed with Mescom was allegedly murdered at his residence in Bejai here in the wee hours of Sunday September 21.

The deceased has been identified as Jagadish Rao (55), executive engineer of Mescom.

Sources said that at two persons entered the house through the backdoor in the middle of the night and reportedly killed Jagadish by slitting his throat. When his wife woke on hearing her husband scream, the murderers had already gotten away through the same way they had come, sources said.

When Jagadish's wife Bharati called for help, and immediately a neighbour rushed to her house and reportedly tried to stop the culprits by opening fire, but in vain. By the time Jagadish was rushed to hospital, he had already breathed his last.

The motive behind the murder is not yet known. The police are yet to establish whether the culprits had come to steal from the house or kill Jagadish. Except for a chain belonging to Jagadish, which was kept on a table, nothing else was taken, police sources said.

DCP (law and order) Dr K V Jagadish and other police personnel arrived at the spot and conducted preliminary investigation. A canine squad and fingerprint experts were also called.

The body was shifted to Wenlock hospital for post-mortem.

Kadri police have registered a case and further investigations are on.

True. We have known the family for about nine years now and they are all extremely honest, nice, soft spoken and friendly.
It is shocking and sad that he had to go this way. May his soul rest in peace. May God give strength to Bharathi and Maitri to overcome their grief. We pray that whoever has committed this barbarious crime be caught as soon as possible and rewarded the toughest punishment.

Mr. Jagadish is very efficient, prompt and clean officer. There must be a strong conspiracy behind his murder. He is polio affected person who can't walk like a normal person. It is really very sad that for such a person there was enemies. From this sad incident, it has become clear that being a good officer, there will be a risk.
May his soul rest in peace.

Can you all stop discussion all the reasons. Simply sympathize with his family and pray for his departed soul instead if vaguely blaming on instances. Blaming for mall.developments. Blamin his wife. Sad!! Just empathies his wife's and kid's state nw. If u can do something then pray for em.and give em moral support instead of debating vaguely.
with due respects to you all:)

Only husband and wife were at home at the time of murder. How come wife noticed/ or heard about the incidence after the stab. She would have/should have noticed at least some fights or screaming noise when the victim was being stabbed.

Once a beautiful, peaceful, loving city Mangalore and the people, today has become a target. Safety and security has become a priority for everyone. The law has to be amended. Please remember safety is important. So let there be no easy entrance to anyone to your house. This is my request to all dear Mangalorians. A earnest request to the DCP in Mangalore, arrest the culprits and jail them forever.

RIP departed soul!! Needs to be investigated vigorously from all angles as the victim was working in an influential position in an entity of significance especially in the wake of brazen eliminations of numerous RTI activists and whistle blowers in recent times!!

Very ugly things are going on in Mangalore on daily basis. Many people are indulged in crimes like hatred venoms towards other communities, attacking, murder, rape, Cheating, stealing......etc.

If we love our Nation, then we have to love our NATIVE PLACE first. If this kind of goondagiri goes on in Mangalore, then Corporate Companies from outside will not come to Mangalore for investment, then the economic progress of Mangalore will be highly effected.

People should have fear in their heart as they will be definitely punished with stringent actions if this kind of crimes they do. For this our LEGAL SYSTEM and POLICE SYSTEM has to function just and appropriately. Let the authorized body punish and levy heavy penalties to the culprits, then automatically the crime will reduce.

Government, NGOs/Organization, Mandir, Masjid, Churches and Media should work to inculcate FEAR of GOD in the people, then the change can be expected.

Let us work and pray for the peace in our loving native place MANGALORE.

Murder taking place inside one’s own house and that too making an entry through the terrace. Unbelievable or very mysterious happening. Humans when targeted are not safe anywhere.
If I am not mistaken Bijai is becoming quite famous for criminals/criminal activities these days!

    Dear Joe,

Those days there were no MALLS, PUBS, Tall towers and other amenities. Above all there was fear of GOD. Today because of various reason, our Mangalore people are divided for silly things(like cast, politics, competition).

In the past, Education institutes were known for their service today it is a business. Doctors / nurses jobs were considered as service but today it is a profession for earning big amount of money. Apart from this our Builders Mafia are trying to buy each and every politician, key government officials, thereby trying to harass a common man.

Today, our legal system allows any culprits let go easily, so everyone thinks that there is no severe punishment for them.

Also, no evidence no punishment, and you know one leaves any evidence if at all he leaves our hungry law makers are ready to wipe them.

Mangalore was a very peaceful City devoid of any crime in the past. However the situation has changed radically and thefts, murders and rapes are reported almost every day.

We can only hope and pray that our people will be able to live in peace.

Main reason for increasing crime in Mangalore, may be, due to increasing unemployment and unemployed youth gangs (individuals or affiliated to political parties).
