Kasargod: Boy dies after being hit by train

Kasargod, Sep 23: A two-and-a half year old boy died after he was hit by a train in Peringadi near Uppala on Tuesday afternoon September 23.

The deceased has been identified as Sahil, son of Asif and Khairunnisa, residents of Peringadi. The Madras Mail train plying from Mangalore to Chennai hit the child. Their house was close to the tracks. The boy who was playing in the verandah of the house came towards the tracks and continued his play.

The loco pilot, who came to know that the child was hit, stopped the train a little away, come to the accident spot and informed the locals. The boy had died on the spot after sustaining head injuries.

Manjeshwar police who came to know of the incident, arrived and took the body to the Mangalpady government hospital for post mortem. Train
stopped for 20 minutes and moved only after the body of the child was taken away.
