Mangalore, Oct 3: The Union Minister for Aviation Praful Patel on Tuesday Oct 3 announced a pleasing news to the people of the coastal region.
Speaking exclusively to daijiworld.com on the sidelines of the landing of the first international flight to Mangalore from Dubai, the minister assured all support to upgradation of the airport.
"We will provide all that Mangalore airport needs. Mangalore will grow and the airport is sure to draw huge traffic. Not only will this region prosper but also the North Malabar sector."
On Tuesday, the first international flight landed on Bajpe new runway. The event was a grand success. With this Air India has achieved a major development by its maiden flight. The metal bird took off at sharp 1.10 UAE time from Dubai and landed at 6.10 sharp at Bajpe.
Although the flight landed on time it was held on the runway until the foundation stone laying ceremony was over. This caused great conveniences to the ministers as the flight was made to roam around the runway for nearly 25 minutes.
When the flight finally parked itself in front of the terminal building, a huge number of dignitaries were ready to accord a grand welcome to the passengers of the first international flight.
"A daily flight is the need of the hour and this must be realized soon," said Abdul Wahab, an NRI entrepreneur. The Rajya Sabha MP from Kerala boarded the maiden flight from Dubai told Daijiworld that in the near future Mangalore would obtain huge air traffic and the new terminal building will give a major boost to it.
An atmosphere of jubilation was not only seen inside the airport premises but also outside. A large number of people gathered to welcome the passengers of first flight.
The crew, including Captain Pushapender Singh was delighted on this occasion and expressed their great joy to lead the first flight to Mangalore.
