Puttur, Sep 25: Three persons have been arrested for possessing and transporting cow meat at Uppinangadi. They were transporting 400 kgs of cow meat from Belur to Mangalore in a Mahindra Bolero.

Farhan, a resident of NC Road, Zakir Husssain and Hamza, residents of Madda are the arrested.

The cow meat processed at an unauthorised place and meant for sale at an unknown place in Mangalore has been confiscated along with the vehicle carrying it. Uppinangadi Police Station Sub Inspector Ratnakumar led the operation.

Only a day back, Bantwal police had arrested three persons for running an illegal butchery in Bangarabettu. They seized meat readied for sale and live cattle which were brought for slaughtering.
