Mangalore, Oct 3: “Clean India drive was the brainchild of the Congress. BJP has respected the Congress by implementing the drive throughout the country,” said MLC Ivan D’Souza on Thursday October 2.
He was speaking during his address when the district Congress workers celebrated Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary near Town Hall on Thursday. Gandhi’s statue was garlanded by the Congress workers.
Swachh Bharat Mission or clean India drive was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet project that sought to create a 'Clean India.' Modi urged citizens and government institutions to dedicate 100 hours of every year towards cleanliness.
MLA J R Lobo, MLA B A Moideen Bava, Mayor Mahabal Maarla and Corporator Shashidar Hegde were also present during the ceremony.
In the same gathering, a verbal clash erupted between members of the district Congress committee over the issue of discipline.
