Mangalore, Oct 3: A person who was found murdered at Mangalore central railway station in the early hours of Thursday is a known pick pocket in Mangalore as per police investigations.
Jayraj alias Subba alias Nama (27), the murdered person was a resident of Bajalkodi Jalligudde.
The deceased used to frequent railway stations on his business of pick pocketing. There were some cases lodged against him at Pandeshwar and Bunder police stations.
The murder had taken place at around 1.45 in the morning and police learned about it at 2.15 during their rounds. The dead body was found in the south end of the railway station. The dead person was stabbed many times and had succumbed to injuries.
While police are yet to know the motive of the murder, two reasons are suspected, the first being a competing pick pocket stabbing him due to professional rivalry. The second reason could be, persons stabbing him while he was trying to steal from them.
The police with the help of a paper found in the deceased’s pocket with a phone number had managed to identify him. Mangalore Railway Police are investigating further.
