Mangalore, Oct 4: After showing the new brooms on Thursday for few minutes, the Babus in the government service have gone for a long weekend break. They will be back only on Tuesday morning for a brief appearance to go back again for another one day holiday. Banks and most of the offices will remain closed during this weekend.

This is one of the longest holiday breaks in Karnataka.

The State government had issued a notification on October 1 rescheduling the holiday for Bakrid festival from Sunday to Monday.

If you have an account at any of the nationalised banks, make sure that you withdraw enough cash as soon as you read this because these nationalised banks do not have outsourcing companies doing their money filling work at the ATMs. As this work is done by the laid back people from the banks, either they are on holidays or just relaxing.

Bus fares to Mangalore from Mumbai and Bangalore have gone up by at least 25%. But in some cases it is close to 50% as per data available to us. Demand and supply situation at the time of travelling plays a role here.

    Florine Roche, popular 'all rolled in one'(everyone knows about her talents-O.K.?) the other day had written an article about 'Holiday Culture' and all that.

    Whoever dreaming for our indias progress must change the mindset of holiday mood especiaaly of govt employees.Normally its maximum lacks accontability in job and what kind of effeciency we can expect .Keep open the govt service all the day through the effective multiethnic workforce where the defferraant relegious people will help each other for mutual celebrations without effecting the civil service compulsions which got already success in the gulf countries.

    only independence day and republic day should be d as govt holidays.all other festivals should be optional holidays as every body will not be celebrating full day .we are a holiday country .

    Karnataka Govt should re-think about giving holiday for each and every festival to please every community. Dasara holiday can be reduced to one day instead of present two days from next year onwards. In fact RBI has got the authority to instruct Banks to keep open on Sunday if situation warrants. BUt this year even RBI has ignored the plight of the people.
    Karnataka Govt has got authority to differentiate between holidays for Banks under Negotiable instrument Act and Holidays for Govt Offices-Schools. So,When such situation arises govt can cancel holidays under negotiable Instrument Act but holiday for other Govt offices & schools can be continued.
    Even though Banks come under Central Govt still only for Holiday purpose they come under State Govt. So this Law may be amended and same Law applicable to Post Offices may be applied to Banks tooo.

    NEW ROOM SWEEP WELL. However let us hope that the work well begun will continue and the people will always bear in mind that they are PEOPLE OF THE SOIL and have an obligation to keep their cities CLEAN.

    About baboos going on leave... i tend to think that we have too many holidays.
