Bantwal: Car rams into parked vehicles, injures one; driver escapes

Bantwal, Oct 4: A Ford Figo headed towards Mangalore lost control and rammed the speed controlling barricade placed on the road after which the driver hit three parked vehicled and a pedestrian. The incident occured here at Maripalla on Saturday October 4.

It is gathered that pedestrian, Abdul Lateef (28), a resident of Farangipet, suffered serious injuries and was carried to a private hospital in the city. He was standing by the side of the road when the accident occurred. The car which was travelling from B C Road to Mangalore, collided with a barricade, further hit three stationed vehicles, two Honda Activas and one TVS bike and then a pedestrian.

It is said that Bantwal rural police arrived at the spot and investigations are on. However, the driver of the car fled the accident scene.

    Yes news paper reports a 2 wheeler suddenly entered the Highway from Masjid Road & suddenly blocked the open single lane, causing this accident.
    Solution is the same- remove the barricade from highway & put speed breakers on the cross road from Masjid.

    Block the direct entry to other side of Highway from Masjid Road (which comes from Mangalore to B C Road).
    Move the entry point away instead of present direct connect from Masjid Road.

    Too many vehicles on the roads and Drivers dont mind how broad or narrow,who falls under,important is just run the vehicle ,not drive with your eyes and ears open,.They think everybody must make place and they are on car race.Why the govt is giving licence without checking ?Even more Police may not help.Best Abandon cars,put only govt buses.horrible what is going on at present.young man suffered due to negligence of Driver.The way he hit Looks like he had some either Alkohol or drugs intus.hope the Young man survives without much injurys and get well soon.

    Accidents are a daily occurrence. However sometimes there may be a flaw regarding speed breakers.

    It is true that our police force is understaffed. Hope the plans to introduce a squad of traffic wardens gets the government sanction soon so that the burden on the police force can be lessened.

    It was WAITING To Happen all these days.
    A barricade on a Highway is placed turning 2 lanes into single lane on a downhill is trouble maker than to prevent accident of this type.
    If a vehicle coming suddenly from Masjid blocks its open single way & the breaks fail then its disaster.
    Remove the Barricade Permanently instead put speed breakers on Masjid Road to prevent them or people suddenly entering Highway.
    Farngipet Z placed barricades are removed after an article on Daiji & my comment regarding the danger posed at night. Thanks to the authorities for the same.
