Bangalore, Oct 4: The feast of St Francis of Assisi was celebrated with immense joy and exultation at Darshan Institute (DITh), Capuchin Theologate, Kengeri, on Saturday, October 4.

Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras presided over the Eucharistic celebration with a host of concelebrants. In his message, he called all religious to be witnesses of God in the church and the world, and not be just like sweet pastries in the bakery. Further, he invited them to divest themselves of all earthly attachments and be free of worldliness after the example of St Francis.

Fr Jossy Fernandes, rector of DITh, felicitated the Archbishop as the latter completed ten fruitful years of service as the archbishop of Bangalore a few days ago. All the guests having witnessed Franciscan hospitality returned with Franciscan joy and peace.

In view of this celebration on October 3, the brothers of DITh wondrously presented the Transitus. Transitus is a memorial of the final stage of St Francis’ journey home to God. Under the theme ‘St Francis: The Model of Reconciliation’, brothers brought out how the Poverello in his lifetime got reconciled with the creator, all creatures, with himself and then finally embraced sister death in the robe of Lady Poverty. Franciscans from the neighborhood along with the fans of the Saint partook in this memorial service.

Many priests, religious brothers and sisters from different communities joined the celebration. Benefactors, friends and well-wishers too were part of the programme.
