Serial thefts around Mangalore leave people worried

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (RJP)

Mangalore, Oct 6: Serial thefts have taken place around Mangalore city during the weekend.

The thieves broke into two houses in Kapikad near Ullal.

In the first instance the thieves broke into a house belonging to Satish Bekal and walked away with Rs. 5,000 cash. The thieves also took out eatables from the fridge and ate before they fled. Satish Bekal with his family had gone to Kasargod during the incident. Only when the family came back on Sunday, they discovered about the theft.

The thieves also broke into another house belonging to Shekar Bangera in the same neighbourhood without knowing that they would not get anything there. The house was empty as Bangera’s family lives abroad.

Two more thefts took place in Suratkal area.

In Tadambail near Suratkal, the thieves entered the house of Satya Shankara breaking the rear door and took away Rs 58,000 cash and jewellery weighing around 64 grams.

The thieves also went to the next house where they did not get anything. In the last two instances the occupants of the houses were inside when the thieves broke into.

Ullal and Suratkal police have registered separate cases.

Both Ullal and Suratkal areas have become notorious for thefts in the recent months.

Why am I getting a feeling these robberies have something to do with the expensive apartments being built in and around mangalore. Is it to boost the sales of these apartments which are advertised as being safe and secure. Or is it some CCTV company wants to promote their business.

i mentioned earlier in your column that the mangalore city is fast growing city and day is near the city will grow size of metro city. and industry of tulu films are also growing. due to alround development there is lot of influx of people from other states along with interstate gangs are active in the city. upcourse local gangs are active due to lethargic attitude of the controlling authority. night petrol, late night raids on bars by the police is very much necessary to curb this menace.

Fully endorse views of Mr. Roshan, Mangalore. The congress Government turned a blind eye to the flood of illegal immigrants crossing over from Bangladesh, over a period of time, these people thru' our wonderfully corrupt system got their papers ratified and held Voters ID - obviously they voted for the so called Secular party whose only aim was to get the votes of these Muslims. As a class these Bangladeshis are sweet talkers but indulge in all sorts of neferious activities. I am sure people who are in the Gulf are aware of this. High time the cops cracked down and kept an eye on the "floating population" in our Kudla. If not, from petty thefts, these will graduate to murders, or terrorist activities. Siddhu Government and their HM George are in deep slumber, the whole state particularly the cities of Mangalore and Bangalore are witnessing crime at its peak.

Modi promised to protect our boarders by all means. After Biryani, Pakistan is firing in the border and After having a Dokla in Gujrat, china is engaged in border incursions. Sometimes it is good to be in opposition, as one can say anything that he/she wants. While in governance, every action matters, unfortunately we have not seen anything yet. Silence of media after taken over largely by politically connected business men is quite understandable.

breaking locks and theft is common today in all major cities, u cant find out these people even police also they will move with small gunny bags with either carpentry tools or like bangarwala or like chakkas, why we dont have any security systems like identity proofs any body will move anywhere in India without proper identity proof ,implement foreign systems in india then see , implement foreign laws u can see drastic change in indian economy and culture.

I endorse your comment. You really expressed my views. Now tell me what is the problem with the central govt???? They have formed the govt with thumping majority and there in no strong opposition to be placed. Why can't this govt do the necessary thing as a first step?? A National id with biometric and all other personal documents clubed into it. This should be the primary step to curb all the criminal activities and the corruption. Why can't they solve the problem of our AAdhaar Card???

There are large number of migrant workers in Mangalore, working in real estate, constructions, pan and street shops, security etc. Though they say they are from north India, but it seems they have crossed over from Bangladesh and re-annointed themself as north Indians with all kind of documents.
Some may be a few, could have intentions of getting rich quick and get back to where they come from. Businessmen do not care much as they get cheap labour and police can not act, as it could lead to profiling, which is illegal. There is a need to find a way to seperate illegitimate indians and this must be done quickly.

Dear Mr. Santhu/Mangalore, well said in your comment. Here in Gulf we were mingling with many nationalities and can read their mentalities. Two labour's of Bangladeshis of our company travelled to Mumbai crossing the borders illegally. This is the truth of our border. Languages of Bangladesh and Indian state west Bengal is similar.
