Sakleshpur, Oct 7: A person who was allegedly assaulted for transporting cows was found dead in a pond here on Monday, October 6.

The deceased has been identified as Dekla resident Nataraj (27). The relatives of the deceased have lodged a police complaint expressing their suspicion that he was murdered by members of a right wing outfit.

It is learnt that some unidentified men had allegedly waylaid Nataraj while he was transporting cows and assaulted him after arguments broke out. Nataraj had complained about it in the town police station.

Sources said that a person named Viji and others had threatened him over the phone and demanded him to withdraw the police complaint. The brother of Nataraj had orally complained about it to the police.

The death of Nataraj after these events has given rise to suspicions that the activists might have been behind his mysterious death.
