Bangalore, Oct 8: With the Karnataka High Court turning down the plea for bail by convicted and jailed former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa in the disproportionate assets case, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday clarified that the State Government has no powers or role to play in shifting the AIADMK supremo to Tamil Nadu.
``The State Government has no powers to shift AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa lodged at Parappana Agrahara prison here after being convicted in an illegal assets case to Tamil Nadu,” he said.

Talking to reporters, he said it is for the Supreme Court to take a decision on shifting Ms Jayalalithaa to Tamil Nadu.
Based on the Supreme Court directive, the special court was set up in Bangalore and the court has convicted the former Tamil Nadu chief minister to 4 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 100 crore along with similar jail sentence and fine of Rs 10 crore each to the four other accused.














``Karnataka has nothing to do with the court and its verdict. There is no connection between the court verdict and Karnataka," he told reporters at his official residence Krishna.

Replying to a question on former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda’s suggestion to shift former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, the chief minister said: ``The State cannot take a decision on the issue."

The JD(S) national president had suggested that it was better to shift Ms Jayalalithaa to Tamil Nadu as it was a burden for the state to manage the large number of protestors and also maintain law and order.

Asked about security for Kannadigas residing Tamil Nadu after a local leader of the AIADMK has reportedly put a poster, which warned Kannadigas living in the State that they would be "held "hostage" if Ms Jayalalitahha is denied bail by the Karnataka High Court has reported in some section of the press, Siddaramaiah said ``We are all living in a federal structure. It is the responsibility of the State governments to provide security to citizens."

Siddaramaiah said the Government was committed to provide all security and safety to Tamils residing in Karnataka.
Similarly, he said it was the responsibility of the Tamil Nadu government to assure safety of Kannadigas residing in Tamil Nadu.

Following rejection of the bail plea, Home Minister K J George called on Siddaramaiah and discussed the security arrangements in Bangalore and other parts of the State.

How much kannadigas were suffered from your torture in recent past, now it's our time to give more punishment.     If Tamil Nadu government make some arrangement to collect the 'tears' rolled down through 'Jayalalitha jail episode' there will not be any water scarcity in Tamil Nadu.there may not be Kaveri issue in future!!

    Kanchi Seer was forcefully arrested by this lady on the day of Deepavali, & that too when he was engaged in Pooja. Police had taken him from his place of worship, as per the order of this lady. Later when the case was found to be too weak, she resorted to arrest junior Seer framing with another case. Both Seer had to undergo trauma as a result of her karnamas. Unrelevent questions where raised to Swamiji during interrogation, & this was shown repeatedly in few of channels. Media too gave coverage for around 300-400 hours, & once Court gave its verdict, it was shown for just 1-4 minutes.

    Now, its pay back time. She is in, as a result of Court verdict. She was sent to Jail on Navarathri, & will be in during Deepavali. She has to repent for her deeds now. Just a saying goes 'Reap what you Sow'.....

    It is better to shift her instead of putting our police force at stress. Tamilnadu people think that Karnataka people have arrested her. Height and ignorance. Let them understand her conviction is the result of long drawn legal process. All her fans should be thankful for delayed verdict so she could become CM twice.

    Our emotional Tamilian friends probably do not realize that the special court was set up in Bangalore on request of AIADMK supremo since she thought this case was politically motivated and she would be victimized if the court proceedings were held in TN. Now that her Govt is in power, she probably thinks it is apt that the case return back to TN. In the meantime, Siddu is probably viewed as Hero by stating the obvious.

    Court has d her as a criminal having cheated the common man. Are all criminals given the opportunity to shift the case to any place of their liking? This media creates such unprecedented news and some "bakraas" think that it is truth.
    Some poor and helpless people still think that she is their goddess just because she has distributed the State's income into such hands.
    Let her rot in the jail for some more years till the case comes up for hearing.

    Only the uneducated and poor class people are in favour of jayalalitha, as they dont even know what they are going thru'. They only care bcos she gives out gifts to them and she has retained the vote bank. Majority of the vote bank are from poor class and slum side people.

    This case is unnecessarily creating rift between Kannadigas and Tamilians, because ordinary Tamilians are under the wrong impression that Karnataka Govt is having hand in prosecution and jailing of Jaya as they do not know that it is the Supreme court which has transferred this case from TN to Karnataka and Karnataka has absolutely no say in this Case.
