Mentally ill Indian expat deported

Dubai, Oct 9 (IANS): A mentally ill expatriate Indian man, who was living illegally in Bahrain, has been deported, media reported Thursday.

Sathyanesan Sibimon, 32, a native of the south Indian state of Kerala, was arrested after getting into a fight with a Bahraini, the Gulf Daily News reported citing an Indian embassy-appointed social worker, Chemban Jalal.

"Two months ago, Sibimon had a fight with a Bahraini man who took him to Naim police station, where he was detained for not having a valid identity card,” said Jalal.

"After the police found him mentally ill, he was admitted to a hospital and that's when the embassy received a call to follow up his case and help him.”

Sibimon, who came to Bahrain in 2009 to work as a labourer, had been living without a residency permit since November last year.
