Mangalore, Oct 11: As flood response efforts move from rescue to relief and rehabilitation, NITTE University donated Rs 25 lacs to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) here on Saturday October 11 at the District Commissioner's office.
The state of Jammu and Kashmir was devastated in the one of the worst floods from the past 109 years; hence Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently made an appeal to all Indians to donate generously to the PM's National Relief Fund for the flood-affected people in Jammu and Kashmir.
S Ramananda Shetty, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte University handed over a demand draft of Rs 25 lacs to A B Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district.
Dr M S Moodithaya, Director-Global Initiatives of Nitte University and Registrar of Nitte University, Dean of K S Hegde Medical Academy, Dr Sathish Kumar Bhandary and students of Nitte University hailing from Jammu were present on the occassion.
A B Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district lauded the efforts of N V Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte University, teachers and students of Nitte University for their contribution and said that it was a role model activity for others.
The contribution was jointly done by NITTE University Mangalore, Bangalore, professors, staff and students of the University.
