Sonia assures to talk to CM to make Tulu official language

New Delhi, Oct 14: Congress President Sonia Gandhi has promised that she will talk to Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah to consider making Tulu as an official language.

She was talking to the delegation which met her in New Delhi recently.

The delegation included the members from The Karnataka Sangha New Delhi, Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy, tiger dancing troupe, central minister GM Siddeshwara, former ministers M Veerappa Moily and Oscar Fernandes.

The delegation led by Vasantha Shetty Bellare demanded that Tulu language should be included in the eighth schedule of the constitution, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) should set up a chair for Kannada studies, Rs. 4 crore required for the chair should be released immediately and the chair should start functioning from the Rajyotsava day.

The traditional tiger dance from the coastal region was performed where minister Siddeshwara even played the drums for few minutes.

Nagaraja C M, Secretary, Hemalatha MC, Joint secretary of the Karnataka Sangha and Ashok Rai, Secretary, Tulu Siri New Delhi were also present.

    While Tuluvas are forward in Bangking, Business and many other walks of life, We are backward with regards to our language, culture and self respect. Life is not only about earning money, its about self respect. Unfortunately Tuluvas lack self respect. If we did not lack self respect we would have made Tulu Nadu a separate state during Independence itself.

    Move is welcome even though it is difficult to understand which language they prefer to talk each other regarding Tulu Language making official. But pls don’t force our children to learn Tulu as Official language in Coastal area since script is very tedious, though we all know how to speak beautiful and sweet Tulu language but how to write nobody knows yet

    These are all Vote Bank policies. By hook or crook Politicians want to fool the public.
    I am proud to be from Tulunadu, I love Tulu, but try to understand how to save Tulu. Example To load an Elephant on a Truck, big Crane is not necessary. Teach Elephant how to walk on a ramp to get on the truck. Lifelong it won’t forget.
    SAME WAY IF EVERYONE TEACH YOUR CHILDREN HOW TO TALK TULU & HOW TO SAVE TULU LANGUAGE it is enough.
    What happened to Karnataka Maathey, Kannada Janani, Kannada namma husiru, Naavu Kannadigaru. !!!
    Yeega Kannada medium school nalli nalakku vidyarthigaloo yilla.
    One by one Kannada medium schools are shutting down. Where is our love for Kannada.?

    Easy to talk but hard to follow.

    Once I went to Nagamandala ritual ceremony organized by a Hotel owner from Mumbai. I was sitting in second row behind the organisers relatives. Naga darshan started, a 10 year old boy sitting in first row asked his father “ Dada yeh kya horaha hai?”. Father replied blindly with half knowledge, “ Yeh snake dance maga”.
    Being a Tulva, felt like someone hitting on my head.
    I didn’t leave him, immediately I told him, if you don’t have knowledge please don’t misguide our future generation. He tried to justify himself by telling me “ Jokuleg dada gottapunduye”

    This our love for Tulu language & Tulunadu culture.

    Your italian Amma is Ullu banaving. Now both amma and pappu doesnt have job, trying to learn Tiger dance with Oscaranna. I think his wife is not interested to learn this dance so disappeared. I miss Jannanna.....May be he is one of the dancers Its difficult to identify the person with costume.

    Akka Sonia, Oscaranna, In the world we are exhibiting our Indian culture wherever we go. Similarly we hold the Tulu culture in Karnataka or that matter in India or even in the world. Tuluvas are well respected community irrespective of religion, generally known as Mangaloreans. No matter the person from Sullia to Gangolli and Malpe to Agumbe. They are all tuluvas and that can hold.

    Can you expedite the highway 66. Its the death trap. Will you be travelling at least once in this road from Mangalore to Bhatkal? At the moment you are free, first come to the ground level. Dont fool that era is over. If you want to come back to the power you have to prove. Enough is enough.

    Is this anyway help to promote Tulu. Present day youngsters are ashamed to speak their mother tongue in public places.Unless we educate our children to retain our ancient languages , they may disappear .

    Tulu should be d one of the official languages of Karnataka. Though I don't speak Tulu, I support this cause.

    Tulu should be compulsory taught as one of the 6 subjects in till 10th Std in the regions of Tulunadu instead of Hindi. Some people may see it little awkward, but to save Tulu Language you need to take bold steps.

    First of all there is no proper script for Tulu language.....second thing Sonia Gandhi has promised that....go ahead ....you will get " BABA JI KA TU##U"....please keep respect for tulu in your heart...if you try to make tulu official language....I am sure you will create one more problem....better learn French, Russian and programing language like C, C , JAVA, SQL, HTML....Sure end of the day it will help us...

    Tulu is a unique language which identifies your origin where ever you are in this world. Tulu bonds the community better than Malayalees. Tulu makes you feel comfortable to deal whenever you are out of station.
    I encourage all my family members as well daiji readers to learn both Tulu and Kannada fluently.
    It will remain evergreen.

    Tulu and Konkani are neither sisters nor cousins. While Tulu is one among the five Dravidian languages spoken in the South, Konkani is an Aryan language.

Actually, they can start their own "Pili Dance Club " anyway,no work now..Diggy,Pappu,Chiddu,Anto can learn this dance and retire from politics..GOOD FOR INDIA..How come organizers forgot Jannanna ?..He will start urulu Seve to include him in the Pili Dance Club !!     Tigers fought and died in pilikula Mangalore and here dancing tigers posing with Tigress. Why not Tulu language get recognition in Indian Constitution one of the ancient Dravidian Language. I cannot speak Tulu but still support the cause.

    Tuḷu is one of the most highly developed languages of the Dravidian family. It looks as if it had been cultivated for its own sake. The language has a lot of written literature and a rich oral literature such as the Epic of Siri.


    Tulu is the primary spoken language in Tulu Nadu, a region comprising the districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada in the west of the state of Karnataka and Kasaragod taluk of Kerala. Apart from Tulu Nadu, a significant emigrant population of Tuluva people is found in Maharashtra, Bangalore, Anglosphere, United States, and the Gulf countries.


    Non-native speakers such as the Konkani-speaking Mangalorean Catholics, Gowda Saraswath Brahmins, Karhade Brahmins, Havyaka Brahmins and Daivajnas, as well as the Beary people in Tulu Nadu are generally well-versed in the language. Apart from Kannada script, Historically Tulu Brahmins used Tigalari script mainly used to write Sanskrit, but some Tulu works are available.


    Honestly, Tulu is one of my favorite language and I speak with my beloved bindass artists none other than this awesome language.
    Political ugly nose doesn’t require to poke in any kind of official helping hand to make this language popular and official in and around Karnataka.

    An empty promise to fool around with people of Tulunadu. We are proud of Tulu language and it survived since ages without any certification and it will continue to do so. Tulu language does not need any political support or blessing.

    Why people demanding Tulu to be a official language. This language exists only from Mangalore to Udupi. Also Tulu have script, then why the people bating too much for it. Use only Kannada everywhere.
