Bantwal: Speeding car kills woman pedestrian at Adyar

Bantwal, Oct 15: A speeding car hit a pedestrian named Sanjeevi (50) causing serious injury at Adyar who passed away before reaching the hospital, here on Wednesday, October 15.

The Alto car was plying from BC road towards Mangalore when it hit a pedestrian at Adyar. After the car rammed the pedestrian, the car toppled injuring the car-driver.


It is learnt that the injured Sanjeevi was bleeding profusely for about 15 minutes and nobody came to her rescue.

Later, a man named Sammad Sompady, on his way to Puttur from Mangalore, stopped his car and took the injured to a private hospital in Mangalore where she was declared brought dead.

Sammad, convener of ‘M Friends what’s up group’ also informed that a 108 Ambulance vehicle came on the way of the injured but did not stop by.

The injured Alto driver is being treated in a private hospital.

    I really feel sorry for the loss Sanjeevi’s family members have to face with this incident. RIP Sanjeevi… I understand that speeding cars are a matter of concern.. but it is not just they who is responsible. It’s a national highway and its obvious that they will be in certain speed.
    Something that I have noticed in that area is that the local people there are not bothered about the law at all.. people just keep crossing the road as they wish and not bothered about the oncoming traffic. Auto rickshaw and 2 wheelers just roam around in wrong directions… It’s the police who has to maintain law and order in these areas..

    World will laugh at us, If we say or NH ...is National Highways or when they see our National Highways. Technically, There is NO highways in Dakshina Kannada.

    RIP departed soul!! This highway is pathetically designed even though there is very brisk movement of heavy traffic at high speeds!! There is no provision for a service road on the side for broken down vehicles or for those who are compelled to stop for some urgent reason!! Shocking is there is absolutely no place for humans to walk beyond the side barrier, there is only a white line drawn extending a few feet away from the barrier!! Pedestrians are at very high risk of being knocked down on this highway due to the high speed at which vehicles move!! Whoever designed this highway should be given a big award!!!

    Foot paths dis appeared from our roads. Widening the concrete up to foot path and claiming road broaden.
    Still few good people are there on earth that is why God sending rain on earth.

    Our Health and help system is bad, Can anyone stop a speeding car, no. Peoples unity is required. Now you have the best of mobiles, kindly do some good recording and put it in the UTUBE so let our government officials take whatever action is required. Speeding people think no end of themselves. See a life is lost. NO lesson will ever be learned. Jai Hind.

    Really very sad for Sanjeevi and her family. Indeed a pathetic situation prevails in such incidents.
    Well this is the time where we need the supporting hand from organisations like BD, PDF and Moral Policing. Otherwise in unwanted or not required situations such organisations and groups come in no time.
    Please think positive towards the betterment of our society and make it a safe place to live.

    May soul rest in peace.But 108 not responding for the emergencies is questionable even ambulance had other patient.Astonishment is that nobody attended injured for 15 valuable minutes - cause of disturbance.

    what a sad end to a woman who was a only pedestrian !may her Soul rest in Peace and heartfelt sympathy to the Family.here ,the man who was the cause of this womans death is survived and in Hospital,The woman as a victim did not get any Attention .very sad .The man should be made responsible for the death of this woman and pay compensation to her Family ,besides the punishment.

    It is really pathetic, in most of the accident cases, people are unwillling to help due to the fear of police harrassment and not ready to take extra pain to render services.

    Earlier police harassment used to be horrible situations like this and now the situation is much better.

    Amongst the crowd, definitely there would have been some who are boasting them selves as service minded, ready to serve the nation, where are those in this hour of need?

    Really appreciate Sammad, convener of ‘M Friends what’s up group’ for taking the accident victim to the hospital and also informing the ambulance.

    Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved members of the family. May Sanjeevi soul rest in peace.
