Mangalore, Oct 20: Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike (KKSV), DK unit, staged a silent protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office condemning the court’s verdict to release the accused in the Kambalapalli case.

Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike (KKSV) protesters were blindfolded, held placards demanding a fresh inquiry in the case, and sought justice for the family members of the Dalits who were burnt alive.

In the Kambalapalli Dalit carnage case, which took place on March 11, 2000, seven Dalits were burnt to death at Kambalapalli village of Chintamani taluk in Kolar as a result of a feud between upper caste Hindus and Dalits.

All eyewitnesses have informed the court that they had not seen who set the houses on fire and how the victims died and thus, the high court’s verdict has gone in favour of the accused.

Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike (KKSV), DK, also submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner.
