Belthangady, Oct 22: “Tulu language has to be included in the eighth schedule of the constitution. But work towards it has not been going on in great speed. I had raised the Tulu issue in the legislative council before and a committee was formed to look into the matter. The committee report has not come yet. Tulu is a language of thousands of people. Tulu has an academy. I will raise an important question regarding recognition of Tulu in the Belgaum session,” MLC Ivan D’Souza said.

Ivan was speaking during his visit to Dharmasthala on Tuesday.

“Tulu Sammelana will be held in December and the preparations for the same have been going on with full swing under the leadership of Minister Ramanath Rai. I will try my best to provide government help for the success of this conference.” Ivan added.

Ivan met Dharmadhikari Dr. Veerendra Heggade after he attended a nature health clinic in Dharmasthala.
